The National Healthcare Number, also known as “número de utente” or NSNS, allows individual citizens to access the public healthcare system in Portugal (SNS), whether it involves going to the emergency room or to the local healthcare center.
The National Healthcare Number allows you to have a family doctor at the local healthcare center, book an appointment, have medicine prescribed to you, go through medical and clinical exams and have them associated to your medical history, and much more.
