The Non-Habitual Resident tax regime, also known as “NHR”, is a more favorable tax regime that allows individual citizens to access reduced taxes (20%) on income presented in Portugal and 0% taxes on income from abroad. In order to apply for the NHR tax regime you need to be a tax resident in Portugal. You can only apply for it once in your life and it is valid for 10 years.
